ISSOR'19

2nd Edition of the International Summer School On Radio-oceanography

(please visit: https://ROW2019.oceannetworks.ca/)

Dear Colleagues:

We are pleased to announce two coordinated scientific meetings based on the use of high frequency (HF) radar for oceanography:

- The 2nd edition of the International Summer School On Radio oceanography (ISSOR; 25-28 August 2019),

- The Radiowave Oceanography Workshop 2019 (ROW2019; 28-30 August 2019)

These events will take place back-to-back during this period in Victoria, B.C. CANADA. Our hosts will be Ocean Networks Canada at the University of Victoria.

The successful international Radiowave Oceanography Workshop (ROW) series has been conducted on a regular basis since 2001. Past workshops have focused on the oceanographic applications of HF radar. They have provided a forum for researchers to discuss their results, swap data and algorithms, and identify priorities for future research. The upcoming workshop will continue this tradition in a wonderful setting. More information about ROW2019 will be posted online via: ROW.

The International Summer School On Radio oceanography held its first sessions in August 2017 in Caen, France. The short course format takes advantage of experienced users of coastal HF radar to train the next-generation of scientists and technicians to work with those instruments. More information about applying to participate in the summer school is available via: ISSOR'19

The schedules have been arranged to combine these two important HF radar gatherings. ISSOR will begin Sunday evening, 25 August 2019 with classes on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday morning, 26-28 August 2019. The Wednesday morning session will overlap with the start of ROW2019, which will continue through Friday, 30 August 2019.

Please place these two events on your calendars. Details regarding venue and registration will be posted soon by the local organizing committee on a dedicated website or indirectly through the individual links above.

We hope to see you all in Victoria in August!

Sincerely,

Steven Mihaly, Richard Dewey, Dave Riddell, and Manman Wang, University of Victoria
Anne-Claire Bennis, University of Caen Normandy
Jeff Paduan, Naval Postgraduate School
